Nictavia — carer card

Print this and keep it beside the laptop.

Setting up (5 minutes)

  1. Position

Laptop about an arm’s length away, camera looking straight at the face. A lamp or window in front of them, never behind.

  2. Open

Go to app.nictavia.com and allow the camera when the browser asks.

  3. Tap once

Click anywhere on the page once. This turns on the sound (the browser requires it).

  4. Blink setup

MY THINGS → Set up for me. Three minutes. They can do it with their eyes; you can do it for them.

  5. Carer contacts

MY THINGS → Settings → Help contacts. Add at least one phone or email, then send a test alert.

What the blinks mean

The scan waits for them. Whatever is lit when they close their eyes is what gets chosen — even if the highlight would have moved on.

The eye badge (bottom left)

It always shows what the camera sees: Watching your eyes · Closed 0.6 s / 1.0 s · Held — now open your eyes · ✓ Selected. If it turns red — I can’t see your eyes — move the laptop or add light.

If something goes wrong

The carer alert

The red ALERT CARER button is on every screen. It asks “Alert your carer?” first, so one stray blink cannot send it. When confirmed it emails, texts and notifies your phone at once, sounds an alarm on the laptop, and tells your second contact if nobody answers within two minutes. It never calls 112 or an ambulance.

Test it monthly: MY THINGS → Settings → This device → Test the carer alert.
